I recently discovered (just after the last wipe) that while I've been away ill last year, instant crafting had been enabled on all the servers. Now I know it's matter of personal choice, but it's been something I've always been against as I see it as fundamentally wrong to the game of Rust.
We all have our opinions...
There were a few words amongst the admins, and I got a bit quietly salty and threw all my toys out of the pram. Then I disabled instant crafting on all but PvE. Eventually I calmed down as I can see we're all correct in our opinions and that faster crafting IS something everybody wants (me too). I've just never agreed with the idea that it should be handed out to everyone for nothing. I've always believed that progression through levelling up to get faster crafting is the way to go. But early game can be a real pain while you're waiting for that to happen, and let's face it, these aren't vanilla servers so why be faced with vanilla crafting times?
With that in mind, I've set general crafting to a fifth of whatever its vanilla Rust crafting time is, with a few exceptions. For example, early game, who wants to wait 60 seconds (or even 12) for a tool cupboard to craft? That's now insta. I'll add some more as I think of them and as I get suggestions, but I only see early game items as needing to be insta. Once you do enough crafting and hit Crafting Level 20, everything is insta. With a few exceptions.
Hopefully this compromise (thanks for suggesting that, legleg) will make everyone happy.
All this is ONLY on the PvP servers, PvE remains instant crafting.
In life, I've found that good things often come from bad things, and so something good has come from this. When the time is right I'll make an announcement about what that is. 😉

You got rid of me? I love you too…
